According to the FDA, pregnant women should not get lip fillers because of their constantly fluctuating hormones. If you are pregnant and looking to start or continue getting lip fillers, contact one of our medical providers/nurse practitioners to discuss safe options. Our goal is to keep you AND your baby safe!
An ideal candidate for lip fillers is any individual who is over the age of 18 years old, has decent overall health, and who doesn't smoke. We also believe our clients should demonstrate a commitment to caring for their skin.
Similar to a shot or any other intervention that involves needles, lip fillers are not painless. We tell all clients to expect a slight pinch and mild discomfort, but that the pain is by no means unbearable.
Lip fillers are considered a semi-permanent intervention. This is because they last approximately six months to a year, but clients must continually come to get fillers again to maintain the same great results.
Lip fillers are approved by the FDA. However, these fillers must be administered by a licensed, medical provider or nurse practitioner in order to be considered "safe".
The use of cigarettes during lip filler treatment has been shown to increase your risk for infection. The smoking process also causes your lips to pucker, which can apply pressure on the sensitive tissue and be painful after injections.

The lip filler procedure is relatively quick and typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes. This includes time for consultation, numbing the area, and injecting the filler. Most of the time is spent ensuring proper placement and shaping for a natural look. Depending on the complexity and your desired results, the entire appointment may last up to an hour. After the procedure, there may be some mild swelling, but you can usually return to normal activities immediately.
The number of syringes needed for lip fillers varies depending on your aesthetic goals and natural lip shape. For subtle enhancement, 0.5 to 1 syringe (usually around 1 mL of filler) is often sufficient. If you're seeking a fuller, more dramatic look, 1 to 2 syringes may be recommended. Your provider will assess your lips during the consultation and discuss the best approach to achieve your desired results. It's important to start conservatively, as you can always add more filler during follow-up appointments if needed.
Lip fillers are not permanent, and how often you need to get them depends on the type of filler used and how your body metabolizes it. Most lip fillers, like hyaluronic acid-based products, last between 6 to 12 months. To maintain your desired volume and shape, you may need touch-ups every 6 to 9 months. Over time, many patients find that they need less frequent treatments as some of the filler remains, giving the lips a naturally fuller appearance.
